Do you ever feel like you have lost control of your busy life? I am dealing with that right now and trying to get my priorities straightened back out. In my last post, I shared 3 Ways Fight the Busy Life Strategy the enemy tries to use to keep us from our calling in life. One way is to Slow Down my Quiet Time. I do that through Bible Journaling.
I am so excited that Bible Journaling has recently become Popular! Popularity makes it public, allowing people to share how-to’s and offer tips and encouragement. That means more people in their Bile trying to apply it to their life! Such a Win-Win!
What is Bible Journaling anyway?
To ‘Journal’ is to “ record experiences, ideas, or reflections kept regularly for private use”.
So Bible Journaling is a way experience and reflect on the Bible.
This is not about a to-do list, but an experience.
It is not about religion, but a Relationship.
What I love about Bible Journaling is that it forces me to Slow down my quiet time.
For a real experience in the Bible I have to:
- Read slowly
- Think it through (asking questions as I go)
- Pray about it
- Take it verse by verse or by topic
- Work through ways to respond to it
What does Bible Journaling look like?
This is by far the best part -it looks different for everyone.
- I enjoy writing letters to God talking with Him about what I read.
- My oldest little blessing likes colored pencils, bubble letters and Washi Tape.
- My youngest little blessing prefers stickers, crayons or mommies colored pens and highlighters.
(What is Washi Tape you ask???? a fun crafty tape that is easy to use to make the artsy stuff pop. )
We each spend time alone with God. Each of us experience Him through the Bible. We then reflect on the ideas we learned, and respond in our own unique way. It is such a beautiful thing!
In real life I am incredibly reserved. I have always kept my Bible Journals private. As my little blessings are beginning their own Walk with Christ I have had to shed that privacy. My goal is to teach them how to pursue true Discipleship.
It is important to me that they Own their own faith rather than depending on mine or my husbands. One day our children will stand face to face with Jesus. I want them to know Him, to recognize His voice because they have heard it personally through studying their Bibles.
My 1st problem is that I am not artistic. It could easily be argued I don’t have a single artistic bone in my beautiful body!
My 2nd problem is that they are both so incredibly artistic! They love art! Where in heavens name did that gene come from?!?!?!?!?!?!?
Teaching them to Bible Journal in a more artistic way means I am learning it myself. I am a complete beginner, but I found a great How-To that is walking me through it step by step.
I have heard many of you talk about wanting to check Bible Journaling out. Would you like to go through the guide with me? Click here to see what drew me to it!
