Why am I sharing real forgiveness stories? We all need more… real stories in our lives… don’t you think? Let’s see if you can relate.
Do you feel like God is asking you to forgive something too big?
Like the pain is just too deep, the betrayal too personal, or the trauma too real?
I’ve been there.
For years, I lived in that mindset—believing forgiveness wasn’t just impossible, it was a crazy ask from the Lord.
But the scary truth is, the unforgiveness led to bitterness. Instead of protecting me… it was actually hurting me more than anyone else ever could.

Real Forgiveness When Forgiveness Feels Impossible
Forgiveness is hard in the face of real trauma. Some of the things I’ve had to forgive:
- Rape
- Abuse
- Neglect
- Homelessness
- Rejection
- Betrayal
- Miscarriage
- Divorce
- Bankruptcy
These were traumas I never imagined would be part of my story. Can you relate?
I thought refusing to forgive made me stronger, protected me somehow.
But over time, I became someone I didn’t recognize—bitter, angry, jaded (much like the scoffer in Proverbs).

(Proverbs 22:10 ESV)
What Changed?
God, in His kindness, began showing me that forgiveness wasn’t about:
- Excusing the wrong…
- It wasn’t about forgetting.
- It wasn’t even about the other person.
Forgiveness was His gift to me.
A gift of freedom.
A gift of healing.
And the only way I’ve been able to walk in that kind of forgiveness is by clinging to Him, through the power of the Holy Spirit, one painful step at a time.
