The holiday season is hard on a family with Food Allergies. My youngest Little Blessing is allergic to Dairy, Dye, Corn, Cocoa and Granola. This has changed so much of how we eat!
Every year as we recover from Thanksgiving and begin planning for Christmas I think about all the others who live in the Dairy allergy world we live in. I thought it would be fun to share some of my favorite allergy friendly desert recipes with you!
The Holiday Season brings joy and blessing
But they are also very stressful in our home because of food allergies.
It is impossible to explain to a young child why she can’t eat the food all around her when we go to friends and family Thanksgiving and Christmas parties. Usually I bring a plate of her special food and I try to make sure it is similar to what’s around her… but it is always a little different. 🙂 This gives us lots of time for conversation about how unfair life is –a plus and minus of motherhood!
I have played with several recipes over years trying to get as close to our Traditional Favorites. I failed miserably for a while. Let’s fact it, milk and butter are just a yummy part of life! Without them things taste doughy and dry. Yuck.
Pumpkin Pie is what we have found still tastes delicious even Dairy Free. Bonus, it fits well with Thanksgiving and Christmas (yea shout my happy kids)!!!!!
So from my family to yours, enjoy these Dairy Free recipes!
